This antique glass leech jar is French and dates to the 1830s [Source: Antique Medical Instruments, Seventh Edition, by Wilbur, p.121]. Although it may look like a big goblet or candy jar, it’s distinct height of 10.5 inches and shape indicate it is in fact a medical leech jar. A few hairline cracks are present in the body but the jar is in overall very good condition.
